BVI hosts a Media Engagement Forum
On 26 August 2025, BVI hosted a Media Engagement Forum at Travelodge, officiated by the Board Chairperson, Ms Mpho Mphafe-Fish. In her opening remarks, Ms Mphafe-Fish underscored BVI’s resilience during the recent economic slowdown, reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to excellence, and the diversification of its product portfolio. She further emphasized that BVI remains steadfast in pioneering advancements in the animal health sector, citing the Institute’s critical role in supplying Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccines to countries in Sub-Saharan Africa recently affected by the outbreak.
The Chief Executive Officer, Mr Andrew Madeswi, also addressed the forum, where he highlighted key milestones achieved under the BVI Lepelong Ya Moleepi Strategy, including Quality and Compliance initiatives that enabled BVI to secure BOMRA licensing and ISO 9001 accreditation. Mr Madeswi further outlined the successful organisational restructuring, which has fostered a high-performance workforce and strengthened cultural alignment across the Institute. He further reiterated BVI’s commitment to strengthening its Research and Development (R&D) capacity, underscoring its pivotal role in positioning the Institute as a centre of excellence in animal disease control and in advancing the development and expansion of existing vaccines.
Ms Nozipho Ramokgalo, presented an overview of the Institution’s financial performance and business standing. She acknowledged the financial challenges experienced, while outlining the proactive mitigation measures adopted to safeguard stability and growth. Ms Ramokgalo reassured the media that, despite these challenges, BVI remains financially sound and continues to deliver profitability, positioning the organisation for sustainable long-term value creation.
The engagement forum concluded with an interactive and insightful question-and-answer session, reflecting BVI’s commitment to openness, transparency, and fostering strong relations with the media.
